Awakening Fearless Compassion

Green Tara Retreat

In the Buddhist tradition, Green Tara embodies the living force of compassion. Awake, fearless and ready to act, she represents the inner quality that enables us to meet fear with clarity and respond to life with an open and courageous heart.

Her extended right leg symbolizes her readiness to rise immediately and come to the aid of all beings. Her compassion does not remain in stillness. It becomes movement, presence and compassionate action.

In this one day retreat, Lharampa Tenzin Kalden will guide participants into the meaning and practice of Green Tara. Through Buddhist teachings, meditation, visualization and mantra practice, the retreat offers an opportunity not only to encounter her qualities, but to deepen them through personal experience and bring them alive within.

At the heart of the day are the symbolism and spiritual meaning of Green Tara and her essential qualities of compassion, fearlessness, protection and inner strength. The practice invites us to connect with these qualities and open an inner space in which clarity, trust and compassion can grow.

Fear can hold us back, close us down and distance us from our own inner strength. The practice of Green Tara invites us not to suppress fear, but to meet it with awareness and compassion. Step by step, another kind of strength can emerge. A strength that does not arise from hardness, but from clarity, trust and an open heart.

Green Tara reminds us that true compassion is more than a feeling. Compassion becomes alive when it finds expression. In how we meet ourselves, how we meet others and how we respond to the challenges of our lives.

This retreat offers an opportunity to step away from the familiar for one day, enter into stillness and connect with a centuries old Buddhist practice. Courage and compassion are not opposites. They can arise from the same inner source.

A day of deepening, meditation and inner alignment. An invitation not only to encounter Green Tara as a Buddhist figure, but to give her qualities space within your own heart.
